Stuart Kightley

Executive Committee member of the Association of Personal Injury Lawyers

Stuart runs the PI department with Senior Partner Wendy Wright. After a spell with the Crown Prosecution Service he joined the firm in 1994 in order to specialise in PI work.

Early successes included his first full trial where the Claimant with a badly broken ankle recovered £250,000 damages, and another substantial settlement in a case where a design fault in the cab of a London bus caused the driver a repetitive strain injury.

He has since built a thriving practice representing clients in head injury and work accident cases.

Recent cases involving six figure settlements include a client brain damaged from a road accident, a nurse injured in catching a falling patient, a shop worker with a head injury from a metal bar falling from a shelf, a contractor who fell through a skylight, sustaining multiple injuries and a paraplegia claim to the Criminal Injuries Compensation Authority.

Stuart is actively involved in the campaigning group the Association of Personal Injury Lawyers, which champions the rights of accident victims. Stuart was the secretary and then chair of APIL’s Costs and Funding Group from 2003 – 2007. He lectures regularly for APIL and was recently appointed a Fellow of the organisation. He is also on the Law Society PI Panel.

In April 2007 Stuart was elected to APIL’s national Executive Committee.

When not at work he will be fell walking or cycling far away.
